Doin' Well in the TOL!

Hello Friends!

Our boxes are all unpacked and we are settling into our new routine in Ohio.  Our summer babysitter started last week and it has been great to have a few days a week to work on real estate and our mobile home park deals.

Quick update on the work front - I am wrapping up my real estate courses and am hoping to take my exam at the end of the month.  We are continuing to work through negotiations with the Iowa mobile home park and are analyzing four additional parks that we are interested in buying. Once we have more movement on the park purchases I will be sure to give you all of the latest details!

Here is a little peek into the place we are now calling home.

HOME:

My in-law's were so kind to accept us into their home for the year while we adjust during this major life transition. We are looking forward to Thomas spending a full year at one school and taking careful consideration into the next place our family will call home. My in-laws, Karen and Chris, live in a fantastic neighborhood in Sylvania and we have really enjoyed exploring and meeting/reconnecting with all of our new neighbors this past month.

Isn't their Cape Cod style home beautiful?

Our favorite feature of the home is the back porch. It provides the perfect amount of shade and the dual ceiling fans give just the right amount of breeze to hang out there all day!

There is space for lounging and a nice big table for all of our summertime meals.

The kids love these lounge chairs.

Our favorite dinner spot.

Fun fact: When Chris and I got engaged, my in-laws renovated the porch and added a roof to be able to host our rehearsal dinner outside in the rain or shine. :)

Not the best quality photo, but this is our wedding party on the back porch at our rehearsal dinner!

Our puppies also spent their first summer on this porch when they were born! Who doesn't love a good puppy pic?!

Lucy is the darker yellow lab to the left and Lizzie is the black lab on the right. They were seriously the cutest little things.

Master Bedroom:

Our master bedroom was previously the boys bedroom (Jonny and Tim) and had sports themed wallpaper that needed to be removed.  We all pitched in to get the wallpaper down when we visited last March. Of course Thomas wanted in on the action and loved scraping the walls and pulling down the wallpaper.

My dad always offers to help with our home projects. Thank you dad!

I worked with my mother-in-law to choose the bedroom colors since these rooms will be converted into guest bedrooms once we move out. For the master bedroom, we chose Grey Owl and it really looks fantastic.

We continued the Grey Owl paint into the master bathroom and added a crisp, white shower curtain to complete the update.

Evelyn's Bedroom:

Evie is sharing her bedroom with her Godmother, Katie, so setting up Evie's room was a fun challenge utilizing Katie's furniture and blending their styles together. Katie painted her walls a green and blue color a few years back and we decided to keep it as is. The colors matched really well with Evie's bedding and I think the room turned out very sweet.

The only furniture we added to the room was the crib.

Katie loves Audrey Hepburn so we kept the portrait above the bookshelf and added some of Evie's books to the shelf.

THOMAS'S BEDROOM:

This was Chris' bedroom when he was growing up and it really doesn't look that different! We painted the walls Grey Owl and Hale Navy and used the same furniture that was in Chris' room as a boy.

Thomas LOVES the desk in his room and calls it his office. At night, he stays up to draw and cut out photos at his desk.

We utilized some decor left over from Chris' childhood bedroom which was fun to see passed down from father to son. His Fenway Park snow globe is displayed in the hutch and the baseball lamp on his night table.

We are excited for the summer in Ohio and are looking forward to checking off some of our  bucket list activities!

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
