Project Update: Bedroom Progress

Now that you have seen our punch list I can show you what we accomplished this last week.

I finally completed the trim in the master bedroom - the windows take time because of all of the cuts so I had been putting it off. We also replaced the brown blinds with white (blinds from Home Depot).  It really brightens up our room!

MASTER BEDROOM TRIM & BLINDS - COMPLETE!

I actually really enjoy painting, but it is definitely not as exciting when I am only painting white on baseboards and ceilings because I procrastinated with all of my room projects.

Painting trim is not always fun, especially hungover.

PAINT CEILING IN KIDS ROOMS - COMPLETE!

Chris and I tag teamed the ceilings and knocked them out pretty quickly. Chris is a wiz with the roller and I am the pro trimmer. I have been painting all of my life so I am pretty picky when it comes to the quality of trim work - Chris has learned to stay away from any trimming.

KIDS ROOM CARPET INSTALLATION & TRIM - COMPLETE!

Once the ceilings were painted the Home Depot carpet installers replaced the carpet in a matter of hours!  I decided to go with a BCF polyester carpet, called Full Bloom I from Home Depot (color: City Scape).

From what I have learned, it is not as durable as nylon, but I bought a better quality carpet pad to make up for it. If you don't get a good pad, it can easily soak up moisture and dirt, leaving a room stinky. I gotta be honest, Thomas' carpet was a little stinky before we replaced it, I have a very strong nose and I always thought it had a faint smell of tacos. Does that make me a terrible mom for having him live in there for 2 years? Oh well, it smells like roses now.

Anywho, back to the pad. I purchased the second most expensive pad that had a teflon layer on the top to prevent dirt and spills from soaking into the cushion below. I am really happy with how it turned out, the bedrooms look so fresh!

This weekend I also finished up the trim painting in Thom's room and completed the first coat of trim in Evie's room.

Later this week I will be tacking the laundry room. I am hoping to knock this big project off my list by the end of the week!
