Who doesn’t love supporting small businesses?! I am learning first hand how scary it can be to start your own business and I have a new found respect for those that run their own business. This holiday season I am putting an emphasis on supporting small businesses (especially female owned) in Toledo and purchasing most of my holiday gifts from these shops.
Here are 5 fantastic small businesses in Toledo to check out while shopping for Christmas gifts.
Ragazza is owned by Jane Wurth and is a women’s clothing boutique that can be found in downtown Sylvania and Perrysburg. Ragazza has outfit options for your every day life or a fancy night on the town. I am currently loving their cozy sweaters and beautiful coats and have been browsing the store for holiday party dresses! They have fun jewelry and yummy candles to add to any gift.
2. Bowinkles Boutique
Bowinkles is owned by Toledo native, Stephanie Pilgrim, and can be found in downtown Sylvania across from the Ragazza Boutique. This children’s boutique has the best designer kids clothes along with books and other accessories. Bowinkles has outfits that range from casual to fancy and carries all of your favorite brands. If you are looking for Christmas Eve outfits for your kiddos, make sure you check this place out.
3. Bartz Viviano Flowers and Gifts
Bartz Viviano is a family owned and operated business with multiple stores in the Toledo area. I love to decorate my space with indoor plants and so naturally I will be giving them out as gifts for Christmas too! At Bartz Viviano, you can choose from their great selection of pots and plants and they will build it right there in the store for you! The newest location in Waterville is gorgeous and has lots of additional gift options including Magnolia brand candles and really fun home decor.
Mrly was created by two Abercrombie & Fitch alumni - Trevor Potulski (married to a Toledo native) and Kyoto Suki. Honestly, I love everything about this brand. Mrly brand believes that simple is beautiful and their high quality everyday clothes allow your children’s personalities to do the talking. Mrly brand has also partnered with the local Ohio chapter of the Ronald McDonald house and provides a load of laundry for every item that is purchased - how cool is that?! You can find this brand at Bowinkles Boutique, mrlybrand.com and on anthropologie.com. I already have a big shipment of cute kids clothes headed to my doorstep!
5. Rooted Leather
Rooted Leather was created by Emily Jones, a mom of three boys who is all about treasuring the moments that make life so special. With Rooted Leather, you can send in sentimental fabric and have your leather bag lined with it. Because these are all custom made, they are unfortunately not taking any more orders for the holiday season but they do offer “ready to ship” purses that are the perfect gift for loved ones!
