I spent this last week prepping the dining room for all of the fun design plans to come! If you are new here, welcome! This is my first time participating in the One Room Challenge and I will be transforming my dining room in our new home.
Prepping a room is definitely not the most exciting part of a project, but in my experience, it makes all the difference at the end of a renovation!
Dining Room Prep
First I hired my electrician to move the chandelier over about 8 inches. I wanted my table to be centered in the doorway to the living room and not centered in the room. Once the new box was installed, I had to hire a drywaller to patch the hole in the ceiling! These projects are technically something that we could have done ourselves, but because they are quick jobs for professionals, it is much more worth it to just hire out.
The bulk of my time has been spent removing wallpaper in the space. It is always a gamble when you remove wallpaper because you never know what you are going to get. If your wallpaper was not sized before installation, it can be very challenging to remove. Another challenge you may come across is if the wallpaper was installed directly on the drywall without a coat of paint. This was the challenge I ran into and will have to make some repairs to spots that were gouged out.
I have had my fair share of wallpaper removal in our previous homes and I am grateful that this was not the most challenging to remove!
