If you haven’t guessed it already, I LOVE setting resolutions and goals! Today I am going to share some of my 2020 goals and resolutions with you as we head into the new decade! Some years are more extreme than others, but entering a new year and new decade really invigorates me to set more goals for myself. I love the challenge and am always striving to improve and grow personally and professionally.
I have decided to set my personal goals in monthly increments to help keep me on track. Tracking your progress is a great way to stay consistent every day. I have a large whiteboard in my office where I am checking off goals I have accomplished each day. I am a visual person and really enjoy checking items off of my list, so tracking my goal progress every day helps me to keep going.
4 Personal Goals
- Drink 60 ounces of water every day
- Get 8 hours of sleep
- Wake up at 6 am
- Dry January – no booze this month (this will help jump start the other habits like waking up early and going to bed on time haha)
Consistent Content Creation
I love sharing all of my home renovation projects and real estate advice with all of you! My goal for 2020 is to increase my website page views and downloads for our podcast. This month I am participating in a challenge to write one blog post every day for the next 30 days. The more content you put out into the world, the better you get at creating that content efficiently…and more opportunities for people go to my site!
Along with creating the content, I want to improve marketing the new content that I have created! This means creating compelling pins for each post and sharing each post on my social media platforms. Another goal for 2020 is to increase my exposure by being features in a major magazine. This will involve consistent outreach to major publications and networking my tooshy off!
Increase Brand Partnerships
I have lots of fun home projects planned for the year and my goal is to partner with more of my favorite brands. I loved partnering with FrogTape last year during the One Room Challenge and hope to recreate that more and more in the new year. When you partner with a brand you essentially become a freelance marketer who creates content on a specific product that you love. Partnering with brands I already use, love and recommend for unique home projects is a win win for both the Influence and the brand!
Real Estate Goals
I really need to turn it up a notch as a real estate agent in 2020! The first step was joining a great real estate team, the Rigali Group, to learn from and collaborate.
In terms of my financial goal, I chose an amount that I wanted to make for the year. Next, I determined my average commission I received from my 2019 deals. This number can fluctuate depending on the list price of the house, but is a good estimate. In 2020, I will need to close around 45-50 deals in to hit my goal. That is A LOT for a new agent! I will be creating mailers, attending networking events and picking up open houses to meet new clients.
The first half of 2020 will be heavily focused on growing my client base as a real estate agent. Investing takes time and money and so I gotta get some more of that! In terms of investing with partners, my goal is to iron out the details of what an ideal partnership would look like in Q1. It is important to me to clearly identify expectations and roles to keep a strong relationship with any investor partners.
Scheduling to Reach my Goals
I am currently working on my schedule to implement batch working into my day to day routine. This means that I will work on one focused task for 4-6 hours at a time. I am still hammering out these details but it would look something like this:
- Monday: Real Estate – 2, hours searching homes for buyers & learning the market, 2 hours of outreach to sphere & contacts, 2 hours creating marketing materials
- Tuesday: 4 hours writing blog posts, weekly newsletters & 2 hours editing images/creating pins
- Wednesday: Real Estate – 2, hours searching homes for buyers & learning the market, 2 hours of outreach to sphere & contacts, 2 hours creating marketing materials
- Thursday: 2 hours writing blog posts, 1 hour podcast record/edit, & 2 hours working on a project for a blog post, 2 hours reaching out to brands
- Friday: Complete any outstanding tasks for the week & complete housework (laundry, grocery, etc)
You can see that two days are dedicated solely to real estate and two days are for blogging/podcast/brand outreach. The last day is for miscellaneous tasks.
What are your resolutions and goals for 2020?!
