If you have been following my Instagram account, you have probably seen my stories about our unfinished basement makeover. We are so close to wrapping up this basement project and I can’t wait to share it with all of you! Creating beautiful and functional areas in a basement is one of my favorite ways to add value to our homes.
Below is the basement of our first home. While this space isn’t unfinished, this was our first experience with a basement makeover. We painted the walls, swapped light fixtures, and installed the carpeting ourselves.
Here is the basement in our third home.
This area was not being utilized at all, so we decided to create a bedroom and add a full bathroom in the unfinished storage room. It added a ton of value to our home and was the perfect spot for our guests to stay.
While I finish our basement, I wanted to share some incredible unfinished basement makeovers that inspired me while planning for our basement. All of these spaces embrace the unfinished features of the basement and make it beautiful!
Beginning in the Middle
I cannot get over Catherine and Bryans laundry room makeover at their Columbus Airbnb! The raw wood, exposed stone and cement walls give this once scary basement a natural and bohemian vibe.
Clark & Aldine
This basement makeover by Danielle and Michael is looking so fresh with the black exposed ceiling and crisp, white walls. How fun is that little bar under the stairs and built-in dog kennel?!
I discovered Cynthia’s account last year during the One Room Challenge and have been a mega fan ever since. I love every design she creates! She updated her basement laundry room during another ORC and it turned out beautifully.
How gorgeous is this workout space in Michelle Adam’s basement? We are creating an exercise corner in our basement as well and I hope our space feels as cool as hers.
I am loving this basement office makeover by Beth from the Unskinny Boppy! The picture gallery and hanging water skis are so fun. I definitely plan to incorporate some fun photos in our updated basement space.
I decided to paint our ceiling joists black, but man, a white exposed ceiling look so good too! This arts and crafts space by Justine Sterling is so fun! I am planning on creating a crafting zone as well and love her hanging art station on the wall.
Old Salt Farm
I love this bright and welcoming basement play area I found on the Old Salt Farm blog. We added a closet for all of our kid’s toys too and it is one of my favorite additions to the basement. The industrial lights look so good with the exposed ductwork and joists.
I have a few finishing touches to complete in for our basement makeover and then I can share it with all of you! This has become one of my favorite projects because we are literally adding 1,500 SF of living space on a shoestring budget. Who doesn’t love a big impact makeover for little money?
