Agreeable Gray is Sherwin Williams best selling color and it is easy to see why! This is the perfect warm gray paint color to add a subtle warmth to any space in your home. It is used by many interior designers because it is the perfect shade of greige – not too warm, not too cold, but just right!

Recently I took a trip to South Bend, Indiana to help my in-laws get their rental property ready to list on Airbnb. Their existing wall color was a cool gray that looked like a very light blue.

We chose SW Agreeable Gray to warm up the walls and add some coziness to the little bungalow. It is the perfect shade for this short-term rental that leans more masculine with the decor.

While “millennial gray” interiors are falling out of trend, Agreeable Gray is one of the perfect greige neutral paint colours that I don’t think will go out of style.

Let’s dive into a paint color review of this popular paint color!

Agreeable Gray Light Reflective Value (LRV)

LRV

What is LRV anyway? It tells us how much light a color absorbs on a scale from 0 to 100. The lower the number, the less light the color will reflect and will therefore feel darker.

The higher the LRV number, the more reflective the color, making a space feel lighter and brighter.

The LRV of Agreeable Gray is 60 so it reflects more light than it absorbs.

What are the undertones of Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray?

Color Wheel

A paint undertone is a color you don’t see that can cause the main color (tone) to feel warm or cool. Warm paint colors have yellow, beige, or pink undertones. Cool paint colors have green, purple or blue undertones.

Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) has beige undertones.

Is Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray considered a cool or warm color?

Agreeable Gray is best described as a greige—a blend of gray and beige that hits the perfect middle ground between cool and warm tones.

It doesn’t lean too heavily on either side, which is why it’s so versatile. If I had to choose one or the other, I would say it leans more warm because of the beige undertones.

Does agreeable gray look more gray or beige?

With its warm undertones, Agreeable Gray can look more beige in different lighting. With lots of natural light, like a south-facing room, Agreeable gray will look warmer and the beige undertones will show through more. When there is less natural light, like in a north-facing room, this paint color will look cooler and lean more gray.

When I used this light gray at the Airbnb project, you could really see the beige coming through because the existing wall color was a cool gray.
