Popular paint companies have already started rolling out their 2025 color of the year predictions and we have all of the details here! Every year, paint brands make paint color predictions and color forecasts about what they expect to see trending in the new year.
In most cases, you can see a common theme appear with the colors of the year that provide insight into the design trends to expect in the new year.
For example, in 2021, the world was coming out of lockdown and it seemed all of the color experts had a vision of “starting fresh” in the new year. The color of the year selections for 2021 were primarily earth tones that felt like a warm hug.
In 2022, the color of the year predictions included lots of green! Sage greens were all the rage with a focus on bringing the outdoors in and incorporating this calming natural hue.
Let’s check out the 2025 color of the year picks that have been announced so far!
Quietude by HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams
LRV of 46
Quietude is a soft sage with a whisper of blue influence. This blue-green paint color is stunning and the perfect choice for a bedroom or piece of furniture.
Quietude is a great backdrop for modern minimalism design. It pairs well with warm neutrals like wood furniture or the paint color, Spiced Cider.

Rumors by Behr Paint Company

Behr’s pick for the 2025 color of the year is a rich ruby red adding warmth to any space. The warm undertones in this moody red create a cozy atmosphere without feeling harsh. People who are brave enough to add bold red walls to their home is automatically a badass in my book.
The unexpected red theory is the idea that adding any amount of red to a room where it doesn’t belong automatically makes the room look more pulled together. Maybe 2025 is the year that we all test out the unexpected red theory with this timeless red hue!
Abby from @abby_roadhome added this pop of color to her hallway and it adds so much personality to this often forgotten space.
Behr offers a color trends palette for 2025 including warm tones and cool shades to use in your home next year.
Encore by Valspar
LRV of 6
Encore is a bold blue that has an energetic appeal and will make a lasting statement in your home. The violet undertones of this blue shade will become more prominent in low lighting. Consider using this color on kitchen cabinetry or your front door to welcome guests.
Colors that coordinate well with this deep blue are lavender and sage green.
“As we seek a joy-filled life, this approachable and livable ultramarine creates a perfect backdrop for happiness in the home.” – – Sue Kim, Valspar® Director of Color Marketing
Violet by Minwax
“Violet is the perfect pick for those who want to showcase their individuality and go bold at home.” — LISBETH PARADA, COLOR MARKETING MANAGER, MINWAX
This cool hue is another color that is a bit intimidating to me. If I were to try this 2025 color trend, it would probably be in a bathroom or as an accent color in a room.
In my opinion, using this color in design takes a little more skill than incorporating earthy tones like greens and blues into your home. I like the challenge of trying this color to create a modern look.
Mapped Blue by Dutch Boy Paints
LRV of 27
Mapped Blue is another eye-catching blue green paint color that adds personality to any space in your home. Add it to the walls of your living space and pair it with a creamy white and earthy shades to create a cozy atmosphere.
I love this color because it brings energy into the space and feels a little bold and daring. If painting your walls in this blue shade is intimidating, consider adding this pop of color with home decor.
