10 Most Popular Farrow and Ball Paint Colors

Sharing is caring!

Last Updated on January 31, 2024 by lindseymahoney

Whenever I stop to admire a beautifully designed image, 9 times out of 10 it is one of these popular Farrow and Ball paint colors. The Farrow and Ball paint brand is a favorite among interior designers for its rich hues and over 132 dreamy paint colors to choose from.

Along with these paint colors being some of my favorites, they are also the most highly rated and reviewed on the Farrow and Ball site.

If I try a paint color that is a little outside of my comfort zone, I always think about what the trim color should be. In the past, for the sake of simplicity (and maximizing the paint I purchased), I frequently bought untinted white and used it in multiple rooms throughout the home.

As I become more experienced in color theory, I realize how subtle differences in a white paint color really can make a difference. Along with the most popular Farrow and Ball colors, I also included recommendations for an accent color and trim color to pair with the main paint color I’m sharing.

In some instances, I share paint color pairings that were a little more outside of the box to inspire more color combinations than standard white trim. For more color pairing recommendations, visit the color pages on the Farrow and Ball website.

Down Pipe is a gorgeous leaded gray named after the color used for the gutters on the exterior of the home, but is just as popular with interiors! I absolutely love dark gray walls, and while the all-gray interior trend may be dying, this dramatic gray color is here to stay.

2 | Ammonite

LRV 66

From its Relaxed color collection, Ammonite is a subtle gray tone that looks lovely in both old and new homes. To bring out more of the gray tones, pair it with more of a true white on the trim or as an accent color.

According to Farrow and Balls color curator, Joa Studholme, this barely-there grey works well in kitchens or any rooms that you use during daylight hours.

Railings is the paint color for you if you want something a little softer than black. The blue undertones add drama to any room in your house. This dark hue is named after the color of iron railings and creates a stately welcome when added to the exterior of a home.

  • Accent color: Light Blue
  • Trim color: Kittiwake

5 | Hague Blue

If you are going for a dramatic, but timeless look, Hague Blue is the color for you. This dark blue is the perfect color to use as an accent in a room or on all of the walls for a cozy and intimate atmosphere.

Hague Blue continues to be one of the most popular paint colors for kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms. For contrasting trim, avoid any stark whites and instead, opt for softer whites with a hint of gray.

The green undertones make it a great color option for outside as well. Designer, Elizabeth Dinkel, painted this front Hague Blue with a high gloss finish for extra flair.

6 | Elephants Breath

LRV 60

This pretty shade of light brown is actually a light grey with a hint of magenta undertones. In cooler light, like in west facing rooms, Elephant’s Breath almost looks like a lilac color.

This is definitely something to consider if your space does not have a lot of direct sunlight.

I love this mushroom color on the walls or kitchen cabinets because it adds warmth and dimension to any space.

7 | Sulking Room Pink

Muted pink paint colors are my favorite neutral and Sulking Room Pink is one of the prettiest hues. This romantic rose color brings warmth into a room and creates a cozy atmosphere in bedrooms, especially at night with lamplight.

Sulking Room Pink is so similar to the ones found in French boudoirs (the french word, “boudoir,” means to sulk), Farrow and Ball named this color after it.

8 | Borrowed Light

Borrowed Light is a beautiful pale blue that is reminiscent of summer skies. It is the perfect soft and classic tone for a children’s bedroom, but it looks great in all rooms, regardless of the sunlight in the space.

This soft blue on the bookshelves and trim creates a tranquil atmosphere in this light and bright living room.

9 | Siffkey Blue

LRV 10

Stiffkey Blue (pronounced stoo-key) is a great alternative to Hague Blue if you want more of a navy hue. Just like Hague Blue, this deep navy looks fantastic in bedrooms, living rooms, and bathrooms.

In rooms with lots of natural light, this blue will look even bluer and Ammonite is a great accent color in this type of space.

This soothing green grey hue is perfect for outdoor furniture or a front door. Its warm and welcoming shade works well in just about any interior room in the house as well. French gray is a chameleon color that changes from green to gray depending on the time of day.
