1. Wreath form: Choose from foam wreaths, wire wreaths, or grapevine wreaths. Foam wreaths are ideal for attaching lightweight decorations, while wire and grapevine wreaths provide a sturdy base for heavier embellishments.

2. Faux foliage: Dollar Tree offers a wide selection of artificial leaves, branches, and fall flowers in various fall colors. Look for items like maple leaves, sunflowers, and berry stems to add a touch of autumn to your wreath.

3. Ribbon and bows: Enhance the aesthetic appeal of your wreath with colorful ribbons and bows. Dollar Tree has an extensive collection of ribbons in different patterns, textures, and widths. You can mix and match to create a custom look that complements your wreath design.

4. Decorative elements: To make your fall wreath truly unique, consider incorporating decorative elements like miniature pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, or even small scarecrows. Dollar Tree has a variety of seasonal decor that you can use to add a whimsical or rustic touch to your wreath.

Remember, the key to creating a stunning fall wreath on a budget is to think outside the box and get creative with the items you find at Dollar Tree.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match different materials to achieve the desired look.

Along with purchasing decorative, faux elements from the Dollar Tree, I also used a few items found at estate sales, like the wreath base and velvet ribbon.

I rummaged through my storage room and used faux flowers that were just collecting dust in our basement.

Easy DIY Fall Wreath Tutorial

Now that you have gathered your supplies, it’s time to dive into the wreath-making process.

Follow these step-by-step instructions to create a beautiful fall wreath that will make a statement on your front door:

1 | Prepare your Workspace

Find a clean, well-lit area where you can spread out your supplies and work comfortably. Lay down a protective covering to catch any stray glue or materials.

2 | Attach the Fall Foliage to the Wreath Base

Start by attaching the foliage to your wreath base with a dab of hot glue. I used a glue gun to secure two foliage vines to the wreath base.

TIP: If your silk foliage is wrinkled, use a steamer to straighten the leaves. This creates a more realistic leaf and a more polished wreath.

If you’re using a foam wreath, you can secure the foliage with hot glue or floral wire. For wire or a grapevine wreath, simply tuck the stems of the foliage into the crevices or wrap them around the wire frame.

3 | Add Fall Decorations

Once you have the foliage in place, it’s time to add the decorative elements.

First, I loosely arranged the velvet ribbon and attached it with hot glue. The warm yellow velvet texture is the perfect pop of color with the autumn color palette. You can find a variety of ribbons and bows at your local craft store that are perfect for the fall season.

Next, I attached the large, brown spider using the hot glue gun. A few bits of green moss around the body of the spider helped to make it pop.

Using the yellow and maroon faux flowers, I attached them in an arrangement around the bottom of the wreath. These focal flowers add even more texture and interest with their traditional fall colors, perfect for this rustic wreath.

For a more organic look, I added moss to a few areas on the wreath. Feel free to add additional natural elements to your wreath, like sticks from your own backyard, to create a one-of-a-kind wreath to give guests a warm welcome.

With the decor that you choose, arrange the pumpkins, acorns, pine cones, or other ornaments on your wreath, and secure them with hot glue or floral wire.

When planning your wreath design, consider creating a focal point by clustering the decorations in one area or evenly distributing them throughout the wreath.

  • Faux pumpkins
  • Twigs and Branches
  • Corn husks
  • Bunches of leaves

4 | Add a Bow (optional)

To complete your fall wreath diy, tie a bow using the ribbon of your choice. You can create a classic bow or experiment with different styles, like a burlap ribbon bow for a rustic look or a satin bow for an elegant touch.

Attach the bow to the top of the wreath with hot glue or floral wire.

5 | Hang and Admire Your Inexpensive Fall Wreath

Once your gorgeous wreath is complete, it’s time to hang it on your front door and admire your DIY skills. Use a wreath hanger or command hook to display your new front door wreath.

For my wreath, I hammered a nail at the top of the door and hung the fall wreath using picture wire.

By following these simple steps, you’ll have a stunning fall wreath that showcases your creativity and adds a warm, inviting touch to your home.
