Laundry rooms are one of my favorite DIY projects because they are often overlooked and left as boring and uninspiring spaces. My first big project of 2020 is to tackle our dated laundry room. I have gathered a few of my favorite laundry room design ideas that are inspiring me for this budget-friendly project.
Let’s get started!
Beautiful Laundry Room Design Ideas
1 | Laundry Room Floor Pattern
The Makerista has amazing style and is a master thrifter.
I am always inspired by her home designs and the beautiful clothes and home decor she finds at thrift shops in her town. Her new laundry room is so pretty! I love the bold color and fun patterns.
While our laundry room design does not include marble floors, I have a budget-friendly DIY that will recreate this pattern on our old linoleum floors!
2 | Waterfall Shelf for Storage
Our laundry room came with an older washer and dryer and we will not be updating them any time soon.
I love the waterfall shelf that Young House Love DIY’ed in their laundry room space. It provides more usable space and helps to prevent random objects from falling behind the washer and dryer.
It also camouflages some of the more unsightly parts of laundry rooms like cords and vents! I will be attempting to create my own version of this waterfall ledge.
3 | Color Palette & Countertops
The color palette in Room for Tuesday’s laundry room refresh is so calming! She DIY’ed many of the projects in her laundry room including the floor and covering the laminate countertop.
I am on covering my laundry room countertop as well with the same black contact paper on my blue countertops.
4 | Laundry Room Shelf & Storage
This laundry room makeover is full of great DIY projects by Frills and Drills.
Along with the entire design of this laundry room, the organization elements are impressive as well.
I plan on recreating the shelf and adding some sort of hanger solution in my laundry room. I really like the touch of brass in this space too.
5 | Painted Laundry Room Floor
Last year, At Home with Ashley completely transformed her laundry room for the One Room Challenge. If you haven’t seen it, definitely go check it out on her blog.
The one DIY project that I really love is her painted floors. I am painting my linoleum floors in a checkerboard pattern and I hope they look as good as hers!
Even though this is a space to clean dirty clothes, it is so beautiful! I love the attention to detail throughout the space.
6 | Incorporating an Element of Surprise
In the laundry room of our Toledo Flip House, I added a fun element to the design with a whimsical wallpaper. Incorporating some sort of unexpected design element is always a goal of mine when designing spaces.
Laundry Room Mood Board
Here is the mood board for our laundry room after gathering all of these inspiring design ideas. The goal is to create a space that feels clean and calm with white walls and green cabinets.
The countertops and shelving will be black to anchor the space.
Check out the full laundry room reveal that cost less than $300! It turned out better than I could have imagined and I am thrilled with the finished look!
